Where haven't you been?

The world is covered in a thick layer of fog.

The only places that are clear of fog are the places that you've visited.

What lies within the fog that you're yet to discover? There's only one way to find out.

I have a blog and you can also find me on Twitter.

What is this?

This is a fun experiment that gamifies deciding where to go on your next adventure.

Habit takes you to the same places multiple times, so why not try somewhere new.

Take that path you always walk past and wonder where it goes, or explore that mountain that you've seen in the distance and never visited.

Go explore somewhere new.

How do I use it?

Drag a GeoJSON file onto the map and the fog will lift in all the places that you've visited.

As you zoom in the fog will get more and more detailed, giving you insight into where to go on your next adventure.

Is my data safe?

Everything is processed locally in-browser, meaning no data is sent to a server or stored anywhere.

In other words, your data never leaves your computer.

What's next?

The only feature right now is to drag and drop a GeoJSON to clear your fog. However, there are a bunch of other features I'd like to add at some point:

  • Exporting your fog to use elsewhere
  • Supporting other spatial file types
  • Supporting raw Google Timeline JSON data
  • Fading areas you haven't visited recently
  • Persisting fog so you don't need to drop the same file every time you visit

Something not right?

This is an experiment so it's likely things won't work perfectly, or they may even break.

Send me a message on Twitter if you notice anything odd and I'll take a look at it.
